The Prostate Screening Controversy

Presenter: Joseph Kelley, MD, PhD

Location: Wellness Center

When: February 16, 2012 at 12:00pm to 1:00pm

Details: Is PSA (prostatic specific antigen) screening a good or bad thing? Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in the United States and around the world. With annual PSA screening it is possible to detect prostate cancer at its earliest stages when treatment has a very high chance of curing the disease. However, the US Preventive Services Task Force is now questioning the usefulness of PSA screening and some are calling for an end to PSA testing. Dr. Joseph Kelley will discuss the nature of prostate cancer, review the different treatment options for the disease and explain their risks and benefits. He will explain why PSA testing has become so controversial. Dr. Kelley is a Radiation Oncologist at Tri-Cities Cancer Center.

Please RSVP by February 14th.
