In its second year, the Cancer Crushing Cuisine program is designed with a focus on preventing and reducing cancer risk. We know that diet plays an important role in a healthy lifestyle, so our program focuses on educating our community about the cancer fighting properties and benefits of certain foods and spices, while also creating delicious dishes to enjoy.
Tri-Cities Cancer Center will once again be partnering with Red Mountain Kitchen in Downtown Kennewick to offer fun and educational Cooking Classes. When appropriate, classes will utilize ingredients found at our local farmer’s markets. Participants will be educated about the cancer fighting properties of produce and other ingredients by a Lourdes Health Dietician and the Tri-Cities Cancer Center’s Naturopathic Physician, Dr. Lindsey Josephson. Local chef, Kyle Thornhill, will then lead participants in preparing a delicious Cancer Crushing dish to enjoy!

Kyle Thornhill Biography
A native of Napa Valley, CA, Kyle Thornhill trained under great chefs such as Cindy Paulson (chef and cookbook author) at Mustards Grill, Thomas Keller at the French Laundry, and chef Bob Turley at the popular Yountville Grill. Kyle was named Executive Chef for Platt Productions a role in which expanded to events with Robert Mondavi Winery, Sutter Home. Kyle also co-founded and co-operated a kid’s cooking school in Napa Valley. Most recently Kyle held the position of Executive Chef for Mills College and managed catering as for the Oakland Raiders NFL team.
In the fall of 2017 Kyle moved to the Pacific NW to be inspired by the bounty that surrounds us in the Columbia valley, thus Professional Food Services was established by owners Kyle and Becky Thornhill in 2018 to provide a higher level of food services and education to the Tri-Cities community. We are a full-service catering company providing catering for large and small events, lunch meetings, breakfast service including made-to-order omelette bars, private chef, and food consulting.
Join us for an amazing evening celebrating the culinary accomplishments of our local restaurants at the Cancer Crushing Cuisine Dine OUT! Event. Local restaurants will compete for “Cancer Crushing Restaurant of the Year!” Event participants will sample the best in healthy cuisine, using “cancer fighting foods”, while voting for a winner. Local restaurants will then provide a Cancer Crushing menu item for the month of October with proceeds going to our Foundation.
